Connect! Connect! Connect!
Something that resonated with me today was the concept that the most powerful connections occur when we are open to sharing....and this is exactly what the Manaiakalani Programme is all about. It helps to support, foster and grow the connections between teachers, students and their whānau. This follows on from last weeks DFI which was all around visibility - being connected cannot occur, or is made extremely difficult, if teaching and learning is not visible. Being connected allows an open playing field where competition is less likely to happen and connecting and sharing is more likely to occur. Blogger is a perfect avenue for our students to both share and connect with one another.
I need to ensure that I allow my students to have an authentic and wider audience to connect with (and this is something that I need to inquire into.) This is because their connection is only as powerful as their audience. I want my students to be positive, helpful and thoughtful digital citizens. I need to provide the opportunities for them to practice this positive connection with others. Looking into setting up a blogging buddy with children from another school would definitely help with this.

Kia ora Anna,
ReplyDeleteIt is really powerful to make those connections between visibility and connections for ourselves as teachers and for our students. Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu would be a great tool for your students across the hub and I encourage you to get your team onboard and do it together. An idea could be to connect with the teacher of your buddy class and set up google meets for the students to connect face to face and have an individual they blog buddy with. Let me know if I can be of any help with this?
Love the buttons! Keep being creative and making your hub site a place your students see themselves and you reflected in.
Ngā mihi,
Sharon
