Ubiqui-what?!?

Ubiquitous teaching and learning - anytime, anywhere, any pace, for and from...anyone.

Ubiquitous - what a word! This is one of the pedagogies of Manaiakalani. Ubiquitous teaching and learning is making sure it is available anytime, from anywhere, for any one and at their own pace. It is about removing the walls from our learning environments and making teaching and learning accessible. I really like the idea that learners can access their learning at their own pace. It supports the child that can whiz ahead and also the child that needs extra support and time with a new idea or concept. Being able to access learning at your own pace is so powerful and something that I know that I would have enjoyed while I was at school and struggling with maths.

Something that I need to work on is creating my own video content to share with my students. This is supported by the idea of, "If it’s worth learning, it’s worth capturing.” I can see myself using Screencastify to create tutorials to demonstrate a new strategy during maths workshops. I also like the idea of getting my children to learn and create videos of themselves demonstrating their knowledge and in turn, creating a bank of rewindable and readily accessible learning resources for our hub to share.

Today, we got to create on Explain Everything. I enjoyed using this tool and I can see why my six year old daughter is so obsessed with it. Below is a photo of what I created - the original has sound attached.

I also started creating tasks on Hāpara Workspace. It is definitely a work in progress and something that I will need to play around with more.

  1. Kia ora Anna,

What a catchy title! I hope you show it to your class so they can see your creativity and be inspired to create their own catchy titles.

I'm glad Tuesday was useful for you. There is so much in the DFI and I know that because your class is already well on the road to being digital fluent I always hope there is something useful for you. I hope that you do start adding your own videos to your class work as I imagine that your students will love it and it can only enhance your amazing teaching skills.

    Ngā mihi,
    Sharon
