Being Visible!
Today, our focus has been around making all our teaching and learning visible. There is no middle ground around this visibility - it is either seen or unseen. We need to ensure that all our learning is visible as this opens up the learning journey for our students, whānau and colleagues.
Technology has made it is much easier for educators to make all teaching and learning visible. Google Sites and Hāpara, along with many other forms of technology, have helped this to happen. Googles Sites are a collaborative, interactive place where learning can be amplified and turbocharged.
Today, we got time to create our own Google Site and try to make them multi modal - this is about finding different ways to get learning and material across to our students. This allows for engagement, pleasonalised learning, accelerated achievement and empowerment. When creating these sites, we need to think about behavioural engagement and cognitive engagement. We want out learning to be enticing, we want to hook and reel in our learners.
It's all around creating rich create tasks and learning experiences.
Below is the makings of my Financial Literacy Site.
I had fun creating this however, it did take a while. I am sure that this will become easier and faster with more practice.

Kia ora Anna,
ReplyDeleteReally love the connection you have made to visibility. You are so right, it is either seen or unseen. I am often surprised at how people struggle to see how powerful it is for students to have the work visible to those beyond themselves and the teacher.
I think you have done a great job with your multi-modal site. Keep designing and trying. I know your students will benefit from this work.
Ngā mihi,
Sharon
