The Power of Technology

My main take away from today's DFI Course is the reminder that....

Effective teaching + the power of technology = accelerated learning!

Today, teachers need to make sure that they are still using highly effective teaching practices, alongside the use of purposeful technology, to further the learning of their students. With technology, we have the opportunity to turbocharge learning. We can make learning more engaging for our students by enhancing the digital component. We can allow children to connect, share in authentic settings and in turn, bring learning to life! We can give our learners completely different experiences. Technology is more that just a tool - it is able to remove barriers. With technology, we are able to redefine and modify and make possible the things that were once not. Personally, I love that learning can be ubiquitous - available anytime and anywhere.

All of this does rely heavily on the digital fluency of teachers, so....and thank goodness I am on this course.

Here I am taking part in a Google Meet

This afternoon, we focused on using Google Meet - creating them, sharing our screen and inviting others via our calendars. Below is a very amateur recording of a Meet discussing a blog. Please note, the focus was setting up a Meet, sharing screens, recording the Meet and then sharing up on out blog....not the content :)

  1. Kia ora Anna,

What a reflective blog post. It is wonderful to read about the connections you are making between the learning you are doing and the application to the classroom. Understanding the power of effective teaching and the power of the online space will make you an even more impressive teacher. I can't wait to see what the application of this understanding looks like in your practise.

    Ngā mihi,
    Sharon
