Bee Bots
This is the first time that I have personally used the Bee Bots. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and embraced the use of integrating this little robotic teaching tool into my lesson on right angles...and it was wonderful! They were easy to use, hands on, fun, interactive, consolidated learning and put the children's newly learnt knowledge of right angles into action. Their learning task was to programme the Bee Bot to perform a right angle. Once they had successfully managed this, they were to try and code it to perform four right angles as it mapped its way around the squares on the carpet.
It was great hearing the children's directional language and watching them collaborate together. It was an excellent activity to end the lesson with and it would be great to be able to use these Bee Bots during other lessons - if I was to do Geometry - mapping and directions again - I would definitely use these and get the children to create maps that they would have to code the Bee Bots to successfully navigate.

Anna love how you worked with the BeeBots even though you felt this was out of your comfort zone. It was great how they were integrated in to the maths programme. Good to hear the children using the directional language and of course computational language. What will be your next activity with the BeeBots?
